The Power of Metta

A talk given during an Insight Meditation Society (USA) retreat in 2016. The practice of metta bhavana leads to liberation and has 11 benefits: One sleeps well; One awakens happily; One does not have bad dreams; One is pleasing to human beings; One is pleasing to spirits; One is protected by deities; One is not injured by fire, poison or weapons; One’s mind quickly becomes concentrated; One’s facial complexion is serene; One dies unconfused; and, if one does not penetrate further, one fares on to the Brahma world.  Anguttara Nikaya 11:15
