Working together is a wonderful way to build community. Sati Saraniya is sustained through the kindness of friends from the community who participate in ongoing projects such as taking care of the grounds or refurbishing the buildings.
Volunteers serve on our board of directors, help coordinate the dana roster, manage the retreat schedule, and other activities. We have now finished the winter retreats and look forward to the many works ahead. Your help would be most welcome!
We hope you will take time out from your busy schedules to join us for a day or more in this beautiful Dhamma sanctuary. The meal is at 11:00 am (potluck dana). In the afternoon, some of our outdoor projects will include:
- Planting flowers in our Gratitude Garden and in the beds around the main house
- Trimming and weeding at the Hermitage entrance and along our perimeter
- Mowing lawns and pathways
- Clearing the existing paths to the forest
We also need drivers to or from teaching events (usually Perth to/from Ottawa). In accordance with the monastic rule, bhikkhunis must be accompanied by another woman if a man is driving. If you are able to help, please contact: hermitage@satisaraniya.ca
